OUR HISTORY

AEMA was formed in the spring of 1994, as a member of Early Music America (EMA). Initially, the organization focused on publishing Atlanta Music News (now BROADSIDE, see the archive), a newsletter highlighting local and national events and personalities.

AEMA sponsored "Recitals at Dusk"; "Baroque Fest '95" (highlighting the music of Henry Purcell); and annual "Kaleidoscope Concert" series featuring area ensembles. In 1998 AEMA supported the formation of the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra. Current goals of AEMA include supporting concerts of member groups, announcing upcoming early music events and sponsoring Early Music workshops for adults and children.
